STROBES Strobes are stunning effects and can be used in most applications, but although they are perfect for most uses, they can be very dangerous. A strobe must only be triggered for 3 seconds at a time, all people attending any event must be aware that strobe lighting will be used, this is usually done through several announcements throughout the event and notices around the venue in entrances and in most visible places. Strobes can cause serious problems for any person suffering from epilepsy. |
LASERS Lasers are an unbelievable effect and can have so many effects and uses, but out of all lighting equipment, these are the most dangerous. These are class 1 lasers units and can cause permanent damage to eyes such as poor vision and part and total blindness, when using these you must position them away from the audience or any place that a may be pointing in someone's line of sight. Please also be aware of the patterns these units make as they can still extend into a crowd so extra care must be taken when using these items. |
SMOKE AND HAZE MACHINES These units must be installed in venues with good ventilation as smoke can stay around in still air, also a warning should be issued as these can cause problems with people with serious breathing difficulties. |
BUBBLE, FOAM AND SNOW MACHINES These units are a great effect but as the operating fluids are water based they can cause surfaces to become slippery so please be aware where you are using these such as polished floors and please ensure that people know if a floor becomes slippery |
THIS APPLIES TO ALL ELECTRICAL ITEMS Please be aware that whilst in operation equipment can get extremely hot and you must have most lighting out of the reach of people as it can cause serious burns. All air vents and cooling fans must be clear of any obstructions, also be aware of any other items that may be close or in contact with the items as these can become hot and cause them to melt or catch fire. |
HIGH POWER LOUDSPEAKERS Loudspeakers can have a very high output and if they are operated to loud in a small venue can cause damage to hearing, please be aware that although it may look big, noise travels very far so you may not need them as loud as they are, you must also be aware of people dancing or walking close to loudspeakers as the high pitch frequencies can also cause damage to hearing. Please also be very cautious when using loudspeakers on speaker stands as these can be in direct line of peoples ears, so be very careful when setting these up. |
